The Kenyan Premier League KPL clash pitting perennial rivals AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, famously known as ‘The Mashemeji Derby’ has been postponed indefinitely.

A statement by AFC Leopards who were the home team disclosed the match which had been slated for Sunday 7th May, at Afraha Stadium has been called off citing security concerns.

This is due to huge followers by the two giant clubs in the country raising anxiety over the stadium’s capacity with Leopards protesting they could have incurred lose in terms of gate collections.

League governing body KPL has since confirmed they will communicate a new date and venue later once the Kasarani and Nyayo stadium, currently under renovation are ready for use.

Tension is usually high whenever AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia go head on with their fans sometime engaging in brawl.
