Ford Asili wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to suspend ongoing major procurement and preparatory works for the August 2022 general election.

In a statement sent to the newsroom, Ford Asili secretary General Njeru Gathangu warned IEBC against ignoring the rule of law saying it will have serious legal and moral ramifications on its integrity and the 2022 general polls.

“If IEBC had no quorum to verify referendum signatures, what makes the Wafula Chebukati-led IEBC think they have the capacity to undertake procurement of materials for the polls”, said Gathangu.

Gathangu further threatened legal redress if IEBC continues to operate in blatant breach of the law. The Court of appeal threw out BBI  and further stated that IEBC lacked quorum.
