Police in Likoni have launched investigations to establish the cause of death of a man whose rotting body was found in a rented house in Majengo Mapya area, Likoni sub-county.

Police were forced to break into the house after neighbours reported a foul smell emanating from the house.

The deceased’s neighbour, Clinton Onyango, said he last met him on Thursday at 8:30 pm in a video hall watching the English premier league.

“He was a Manchester United fan, I expected to meet him on Sunday and watch a match between Manchester United and Arsenal,” said Onyango.

Onyango further said that he tried to reach him after the game but his phone was switched off.

Onyango said that when he woke up on Monday there was a foul smell and flies all over where they stayed and requested tenants to dispose of waste.

“We disposed of the waste but the foul smell remained and when we tried to reach him through the phone he had switched it off,” said Onyango.

According to the landlord, the deceased has been living in his house for the last two years and had not paid rent for the last three months including November.

Speaking to Baraka FM, Likoni OCPD Jane Munywoki said that the deceased hanged himself inside the house leaving behind a note.

“The deceased had issues with his brother according to the note he left behind and we have already launched investigations into the incident,” said Munywoki.

The body of the deceased was taken to Coast general hospital pending a postmortem.
