389 people have tested positive for for the coronavirus marking the country’s highest COVID-19 infections in 24 hours.
According to the ministry of health, 266 of the new infections were of males and 123 females with the youngest being one year old and the oldest 93 years.
“The total number of positive cases in the country is now 7,577 from cumulative tests of 185,035 samples. All, except 3 of the positive cases, are Kenyans,” said the ministry of health.
Nairobi continued to lead with 248 new cases followed by Kajiado 36, Kiambu 27 then Mombasa with 23 cases.
Mombasa cases are from; Mvita (9), Nyali (6), Jomvu (3), Likoni (2), Kisauni (2) and Changamwe (1) case. Kilifi recorded two new cases.
“We will continue to work very closely with all stakeholders, such as clinicians, researchers and other experts, including development partners, and the rest of the society to achieve the whole-of-society approach to combating this pandemic,” said MoH.
Meanwhile, 88 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various facilities bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,236.
However, five more succumbed to the disease to bringing the national COVID-19 fatalities toll to 159.
“The 7,577 people infected so far, and 159 deaths, are not just numbers. These are our brothers and sisters, uncles and aunties, mothers, friends and other relatives,” said the ministry.
