Man with COVID-19 like sypmtoms collapses and dies in Mombasa CBD

A  70-year-old man died after collapsing in the Mombasa Central Business District on Wednesday.

The deceased who passed away outside the bank developed breathing complications according to eye witnesses.


His body was collected from the scene with the police officers and   County health officials to Coast general referral hospital morgue.

Mombasa Urban police boss Eliud Monari has said that police with County health officials are investigating to establish the cause of sudden death as he confirmed that the deceased experienced difficulties in breathing before his death.

Breathing difficulties is among the COVID-19 symptoms enlisted by the World Health Organization.

Other symptoms include:  fever, dry cough, and tiredness.

Symptoms that are less common and may affect some patients include aches and pains, nasal congestion, headache, conjunctivitis, sore throat, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell or a rash on skin or discoloration of fingers and toes.

Mombasa is among the counties leading with the COVID-19 cases in the country.

The country has recorded 535 positive cases since the first case was reported in March.
