Three more people have tested positive for the Coronavirus, raising the number of reported cases in the country to seven.

“The first case of the three is of a couple who had traveled from madrid through Dubai arriving in the country on the 5th of March, 2020. The third case among the three involves a Burundian National who had traveled from Dubai to Kenya arriving on the 17th of March, 2020, and this one was picked by our surveillance team with high temperature during routine screening at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport,” said Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe when giving the daily update on the virus.

The government is currently tracing persons who may have come into contact with the ones mentioned above.

CS Mutahi said the government will be taking stringent measures on Kenyans who fail to self quarantine after coming back to the country from countries with reported COVID-19 cases, saying self quarantine was not a voluntary thing but compulsory.

“It is now clear that the threat we face, first and foremost, is from Kenyans who are coming from overseas or Kenyans who had visited overseas countries,” said the health CS.
