Body with missing arm found floating near Likoni ferry

A decomposed body of unidentified man was on Monday recovered floating a few meters from the Likoni ferry crossing channel.

Kenya ferry services (KFS) have reported that the deceased is believed to be aged between 30 and 35 years old.

The body which was retrieved by fishermen, had a missing left arm.

“The Ferry Police with the help of the fishermen retrieved the body with a missing left arm, the body has been transferred to Coast Provincial General Hospital Mortuary” reads the statement from KFS.

Likoni OCPD Jane Munywoki has called upon families whose kin is missing to report to Kenya ferry police station to help identify the body.

“A decomposed body was recovered and we have not identified it”, she said.

According to police reports, an incident of drowning was reported on Friday but did not rule out if the decomposed body was the one.

 Body of victim in ill-fated Likoni vehicle retrieved

The body was recovered a few meters from Likoni crossing channel where the body of John Mutinda was retrieved after his car plunged in the Indian Ocean on Saturday morning.

According to the press release by the Kenya Ferry Services, Mutinda drove his car registration number KBX 475B Toyota Allion maroon in color to the mainland ramp past the police check and failed to pay toll charges of sh.120.

“The ferry staff approached the vehicle, it drove past the pavement on the opposite side of the road overlapping other vehicles which were parked on the waiting bay and as the ramp controller stopped the vehicle, the motorist defied the order, sped-off and plunged in to the Indian Ocean. “Reads the statement.
