A vacuum has been left at the Mombasa county public service board after the entire cabinet was sent packing.
All the CECs have been forced to leave office after their contracts expired earlier in the week.
According to Job Tumbo, who is the acting county secretary, the all the outgoing officers are currently clearing and most of them had returned their vehicles, security detail and all other entitlements that came with the positions as at Thursday evening.
However county officials have denied the existence of a vacuum that could potentially lead to a crisis.
“It is a normal thing for contracts to come to an end and there is nothing unusual. Hence there is no crisis,” Tumbo told the standard newspaper.
The county executives were hired on 12th November 2017 and their contracts indicated that they were supposed to serve for two years.
The outgoing cabinet is comprised of old faces who served with Joho in his first term like: Taufiq Balala (Transport), Hazel Koitaba( Health) and Fatma Awale(water) .
New faces who graced the cabinet when he took over his second term incude: Fawz Rashid(Trade and tourism),Kelvin Munywako Kyalo(Youth and Sports), Godfery Nato(environment),Seth Odongo( Devolution),Edwin Nyale(Lands) Hassan Mwamtoa(Fisheries) and Mariam Abdullahi Mbaruk( Finance).
Health CEC Hazel Koitaba was last seen on official duty during the Mombasa hospital inferno while her colleague in the trade and tourism docket Fawz Rashid was last seen on official duty on Wednesday.
It is not yet clear when a new cabinet would be announced with reports indicating that the governor who is expected to give direction is expected to retain some members of the outgoing cabinet.
Joho has stayed away from public events after being discharged from the now closed Mombasa hospital last week.
He had been admitted at the facility after suffering from Malaria.
