Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Department in Lamu county are investigating an incident where a police officer attached to the Mokowe Administrative Police Camp allegedly raped a woman at gunpoint.
According to a police statement, the incident took place at Langoni Arra village in Lamu west.
The suspect who has been identified as David Kingori had accompanied the victim to her house when he ordered her to undress threatening to shoot her.
The two had earlier met at the Administration Police Canteen at the Mokowe police station.
Police added that the victim cooperated unwillingly but later fled thereby locking the suspect in her house.
“NPS officers rushed to the scene under the command of the OCS Lamu police station and established that the officer was under the influence of alcohol” Reads a police statement confirming the incident.
The suspect was arrested.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at the King Fahad hospital in Lamu.
