Lack of facilities in schools has been mentioned as one of the reasons as to why there is no quality education in the country.
According to Mavoko Sub county educational officer Simon Mutemi, who was speaking during the opening of boys dormitory in Katani Secondary school in Machakos county, many schools dont have enough classrooms as well as equipped Laboratories, which is a necessity when it comes to quality education.
“There is much that we can do if we stand together as parents, teachers and donors in order to achieve in providing good education to our children,” said Mutemi.
Katani Secondary school in Mavoko constituency received the donation of the dormitory from Amara Charitable Trust costing five million shillings and sponsored by Grant Thornton (Grant Thornton is one of the world’s leading organisations of independent assurance, tax and advisory firms) under the leadership of Samuel Mwaura, Partner- Taxation at Grant Thornton.
The school that has a population of 300 students both girls and boys, will see boys starting to board like their counterpart female students.
Amara charitable trust that has been in existence for over 10 years now, has donated not just classrooms but also books, sanitary towels, beddings and other school equipments to facilitate good education.
