Grief engulfed Kisumu Ndogo village of Malindi town after a 10-year-old boy died hours after plunging into a septic tank.
The tragic incident took place on Friday morning in when the young boy who has been identified as Jotham Mwadime was playing with friends.
The septic tank’s cover had earlier collapsed before the owner of the house covered it using a polythene paper.

Unaware of the impending danger, the deceased stepped onto the polythene paper plunging into the septic tank.
Neighbours who were gathered at the scene managed to rescue the young boy who died while being rushed to the Tawfiq hospital in Malindi.

Area Chief Nichodemas Mwayele confirmed the incident saying police had launched a manhunt for the owner of the septic tank.
This comes just less than a year after 6 people died in Mishomoroni, Mombasa after a septic tank they were standing on during a wedding ceremony caved in.
