Kilifi, KENYA:One person died on Thursday morning while escaping police who were chasing after his vehicle in Kilifi county.
According to security officers, the deceased failed to comply with a police order for a search of his vehicle.
This prompted police to initiate a chase which started at Mariakani but ended tragically in Mavueni after the suspect’s vehicle lost control and overturned killing one of the occupants on the spot.
According to the Kilifi OCPD Joseph Muriuki, bhang was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
“The duo were transporting 10 bags of bhang. The vehicle had escaped a police barrier from Mariakani.”,Muriuki said
The other suspect who was driving the vehicle has been arrested.
The deceased is yet to be identified.
