Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has vowed not to apologize to his Mombasa counterpart Ali Hassan Joho for remarks he made linking him to drug trafficking.
At a media briefing in Nairobi on Tuesday, Sang said he will not apologize but rather provide evidence to back his claims.
He pointed that he will provide the evidence to the relevant authorities including Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission, Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Interpol, within two weeks.
“We already have the information as we seek appointment with the DCI ,EACC , the local organisations and international agencies,” he said.
Governor Joho had given leaders from Deputy President William Ruto’s faction ultimatum to apologize over the allegations they had made linking him to drug menace or else they will battle in courts; accusing the faction of tainting his name in the society .
However, Sang vowed not to apologize over his assertion pointing that his allegations are intertwined with the reports tabled in parliament and information privy to Interpol linking the governor to the menace.
He urged Joho to stop pointing fingers at DP William Ruto over his woes.
Joho had accused the DP of sponsoring attacks against him over his alleged involvement in the menace.
Sang also urged the government to carry out lifestyle audit of Governor Joho to ascertain his sources of wealth .
Joho had dared Ruto to face him directly instead of sending his “subjects” to malign his reputation.
Ruto allies recently launched attacks against Joho with Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and MPs Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu) and Didmus Barasa (Kimilili MP) .
Joho, through his lawyer, has written to the International Police Organisation (Interpol), seeking clarification on reports his name is in the list of wanted drug barons as claimed by his attackers.
