The storm is brewing in the American entertainment industry between RnB star R.Kelly and Lifetime channel over a documentary series that aired on the channel.
The docu-series dubbed “Surviving R .Kelly” entails alleged revelations against Kelly with the first series airing on Thursday night.
According to media outlets in the US, the RnB star denounced such allegations and urged the channel to halt airing the 3-day Docu-series whereby several women allegedly accused the star of sexual mental and physically abusive behavior.
But R Kelly vehemently denied the allegations indicating that the women featured in the docu-series are out to disparage his name.
TMZ.COM reported that the R&B star’s attorney Brian Nix sent a letter to the cable network warning that a federal lawsuit would be filed if the series aired.
He claimed that the documentary entails lies and they are doing so in a bid to popularize themselves.
But in a quick rejoinder, Lifetime insisted that it will go on with their scheduled docu-series scheduled to be aired from Thursday to Saturday.
According to BBC, only John Legend took part in the docu-series but other vocal stars including Lady Gaga , Celine Dion, Jay Z, Erykah Badu, and comedian Dave Chappelle declined to take part in the series.
