US Embassy provides sh. 20 million grant to journalists

The US embassy has provided a sh 20 million grant  to the Kenya Editors guild.

This is according to the US Ambassador Bob Godec who spoke during the of the Kenya Editors guild conference at the Villa Rosa Kempinski.

According to Amb. Godec, the grant would enable the guild to undertake an intensive training on investigative and ethical journalism and challenges including fake news.

Editors to attend convention on security of journalists

“This grant enables the guild to undertake training in investigative and ethical journalism to examine the challenges facing media and to work with Kenya’s government and civil society to ensure accurate and impartial reporting” Amb. Godec said.

The  convention which the first of its kind  kicked off on Friday and  is expected to wind off on Saturday.

According to Kenya Editors’ Guild chairman Churchill Otieno, the convention seeks to lay bare issues on professionalism, disinformation, ethics, training, and the place of legacy media in the face of intense competition from new media platforms that are seen not only as transformative but also disruptive.
