Taita Taveta chief officer nominees to know fate on Monday

Taita, Taveta, KENYA:7 Chief Officers nominated by the Taita Taveta governor Granton Samboja are set to know their fate on Monday more than a month since the governor made the appointment.

This is after the county assembly called for a special sitting to deliberate on the vetting results of the 7 officers.

According to a notice issued by the county speaker Meshack Maganga, the sitting would table a motion of their approval thereafter.

“The business to be transacted shall be: Tabling of the report on the vetting of the seven (7) County Chief Officers and the motion on their approval.” Reads the notice by Speaker Maganga.

The chief officers who were nominated in September and subsequently underwent vetting include Mr Leonard Langat (Finance and Planning) Ajra Mohammed (Mining and Energy), Philomena Kirote (Education and Libraries) Christine Mwakera (Health and Sanitation),Sylvanus Mwambere (Youth, Sports, Culture and Tourism) Reuben Ngeti (Environment, Lands, Planning and Natural Resources) and Liverson Mghendi (Special Programmes).

However, the governor is yet to make appointments for various departments which are Public Service and administration, Public Works, Housing and Infrastructure, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Water and Irrigation, Trade and Industrialization.

The chief county office is an office under the county public service board where the chiefs are tasked with management of the various departments they have been assigned.
