Nairobi, KENYA: The court has released Kenya National Union of Nurses KNUN secretary General Seth Panyako on a bond of 50,000 shillings.
Before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, Panyako and his co-accused Joseph Wanyoike Wanyambura and Evans Mwendwa Mwaluko denied the charges of causing a disturbance in a manner likely to breach the peace and taking part in an unlawful assembly.
The union leader was arrested at KNH where he was to address KNUN members who were protesting over what they term as insecurity after one of the nurses at the hospital was allegedly assaulted by an angry patient.Doctors and nurses at the referral hospital downed their tools following the incident, where a nurse at the facility was allegedly attacked by a mother of a 17-year-old boy who died at the hospital, a couple of weeks ago.
Panyako was arrested alongside other officials accused of instigating the protests that paralyzed services at the health facility.
He was apprehended and taken to Kilimani police station for further questioning.
