His appointment was received by mixed reactions from Arsenal fans but barely four months in charge, Unai Emery has evinced to be the man the Gunners have been missing.

The Spaniard has revolutionized Arsenal from participants to league contenders with a run of good results which has attracted the bookies including Betin with its attractive nairabet affiliate code 2018 experiencing the highest number of stackers who backs the Gunners to challenge heavyweights such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea for Premier league title this campaign.

Having kicked off the season with two defeats on the trot at the hands of Manchester City and Chelsea, few including most Arsenal fans could not dream of the Gunners brushing shoulders at the apex with preseason favorites neither would they imagine of their team looking sharp this early.

wins

Well, that was before Unai Emery and his coaching staff stamped their authority at the helm, affirming it by seven Premier League wins in a row for the first time since 2007, save for the Sunday duel where they shared the spoils with Crystal Palace in a two all draw at Selhurst Park.

That however does not erase the fact that Arsenal’s defensive numbers compared to what perhaps should now be called their title rivals serve to hammer home the point. The top three in the Premier League table are also the top three when it comes to restricting shots from their opponents – in the same order. In contrast, only four teams have allowed more shots from their opponents than Arsenal.

That reflects the fact that Arsenal have been outperforming the underlying numbers offensively too. While the rest of the top five lead the list for shots, the Gunners are down in 10th. Half the teams in the Premier League have had more clear-cut chances. The key to their success has been their remarkable conversion rate in front of goal.

Aubameyang

Stats by Premier League shows that lead striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s conversion rate since joining Arsenal is up above 40 per cent attesting to his performance against Leicester City where he scored with both of his shots in a match where Arsenal had to rally from behind to grab maximum points.

Former Liverpool player-cum pundit Jamie Carragher in his analysis summed it up by attributing Arsenal’s capability to convert 23.7 per cent of their efforts on goal which is better than any other team in the league and by some distance as the reason why they are flourishing.

The transition to life under  Emery was never going to be flawless but to be fair to the Spaniard I can say it has been pretty.

With the three top teams; Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea still unbeaten, we can only wait and see how things unfold but up to this point, backing the Gunners to have a good season is easy compared to when it was announced Emery is succeeding Arsene Wenger at the club.
