Mombasa, KENYA: A 24-year-old woman who was stabbed and gang raped before being tied to a rail track in Kibarani area, Mombasa County has linked her ex lover to the incident.

Irene Aisha also told the court that her assailants were well known to her.

Aisha, who appeared before principle magistrate Henry Nyakweba, said that the suspects Steven Okalu and Steven Mzee, facing attempted murder charges, were her neighbours, and she had known them since childhood.

“Your honour both of my legs were amputated after I was ran over by the train, I also lost my three months pregnancy because of the stab in the stomach,” said Irene.

She was taken to Coast general hospital but unfortunately, the doctors were on strike forcing good Samaritans to transfer her to a private hospital in Mombasa.

The ordeal took place in February 2017, when she was leaving a funeral she had attended.

The suspects were arrested a month after the incident.

She identified two suspects among those who were in the court dock on Tuesday evening, saying that one was her fiance but they had separated a month before the incident occurred.

Mombasa principle magistrate Henry Nyakweba ordered the suspects to be detained at Shimo la Tewa prison until 20th November when the case will be heard.
