Nairobi,KENYA: A Senate committee has summoned Murangá governor Mwangi Wa Iria to appear before it on 30th October.

This is after Wa Iria failed to show up before the Nyandarua Senator Paul Githiomi led the committee on lands, where he was expected to shed more light on water challenges in Murangá.

“We adjourn this committee meeting and give instructions to the secretariat, to summon Mwangi Wa Iria, to appear before this committee and tell Kenyans why there are problems in Ndakaini dam,” Githiomi said

Githiomi expressed his committee’s disappointment accusing Wa Iria of being disrespectful of the Senate.

“It is unfortunate that an individual can think that he is bigger that an individual. There is nobody who  is bigger than this nation, we have decided to summon him because this Wa Iria is not  a serious person .”He said

There has been a clash between Nairobi governor Mike Sonko and his Muranga counterpart Mwangi Wa Iria whom Sonko accuse of politicizing the commodity.

But the council of governors and president Uhguru Kenyatta has since intervened urging politicians to desist from politicizing water issue instead focus on developmental agenda.
