Taita Taveta, KENYA: Some 34 people are currently receiving treatment at Moi referral hospital, Voi Taita Taveta county after they sustained serious injuries in a Friday morning accident near Voi.
According to Voi OCPD Joseph Chesire, the accident occurred at Sinai area when a bus traveling to Nairobi tried to avoid a head-on collision with another vehicle that was heading to Mombasa.
“When the driver tried to hit the oncoming vehicle, his vehicle veered off the road and rolled over,” he said.
The vehicle which rolled over belongs to Tatama Sacco while the vehicle the driver tried to avoid colliding with was headed to Nairobi.
The Voi police boss said investigators have launched a manhunt for the driver of the bus who escaped after the accident.
The minibus was carrying 50 passengers however 16 of them escaped unhurt.
Mr Chesire has called on drivers to be careful on roads and stop speeding to avoid unnecessary accidents
