Nairobi, KENYA: Former Nairobi governor Dr. Evans Kidero has been released on cash bail of Sh.2 million.

Together with his co-accused Maurice Okele, Kidero was given a personal bond of sh.5 million and an additional bond of Sh.3 million with a surety of same amount.

Kidero was arrested on Wednesday alongside six other former county officials by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission detectives, after the DPP acknowledged the report tabled before him satisfied need for arrest on grounds of abuse of office, money laundering and bribing.

Kidero was charged alongside Lilian Wanjiru (former county secretary), Jimmy Mutuku (Former CFO), Gregory Mwakanongo (former Finance executive) Stephen Ogago (Former H/O County Treasury) Luke Mugo (Ag Chief Officer Finance), John Githua and Grace Njeri of Lodwar Wholesalers Ltd and Ngurumani Traders Ltd and the two companies.
