Daudi Nzomo, the man who was caught on video beating his wife, has pleaded guilty to assault charges.
Nzomo was arrested on Thursday morning in Nguuni, Kibwezi West Constituency while on the run after the video of him viciously beating his wife went viral.
The arrest came after the clip caught the attention of the DPP who directed immediate arrest of Nzomo.
Standing before Makueni court, Nzomo pleaded guilty to the offence he committed on July 30 at Kyaaka village in Makueni County of assaulting his wife Winfred Mwende.
The prosecutor, Eunice Gitau, sought one week to get a report on Nzomo’s criminal history which the magistrate granted allowing her to file the report as well as a victim impact assessment.
Nzomo will remain in custody until Wednesday next week when he will be sentenced.
