Kilifi, KENYA: Activists in Kilifi County have vowed to demonstrate against the re-submission of Alio Ibrahim Adan to the county assembly for re-vetting.
Alio was rejected by the County assembly in May when his report was not adopted by the house.
Earlier this week, a letter dated 11th July 2018, written by Kilifi County Secretary Arnold Mkare was sent to the County assembly for Re-vetting of the nominee.
Addressing the press at the Karisa Maitha sports ground on Wednesday, the activists led by Fikirini Jacobs and Frank Thoya criticized the leadership of Kilifi governor Amason Kingi.
They said he has turned to be a dictator who does things to suit his desires and not for the benefit of the people of Kilifi County.
“I want to tell you Bwana Kingi, that we declare officially today that this county will be ungovernable by a person of your kind and take this to the bank including IMF,” said Jacobs.
“Alio was rejected by the County Assembly on clear grounds that his credentials were not genuine and had no capacity to work for the people of Kilifi County. May you (Governor Kingi) tell the people of Kilifi what is that making you not to nominate another person for this post other than him. We will not allow that to happen even at once in this County,” he added.
Another activist Frank Thoya, said the governor has been taking the people of Kilifi for a ride.
He accused him of bringing in people from other counties to work in Kilifi yet the locals are crying foul over unemployment.
“I think Kingi must come out clearly and tell us the secret he has with Alio, because we many people with the capacity to work in the department but he insists on him, why? We will fight for the rights of our people to the end and this will not happen before our eyes,” he said.
Efforts to get a comment from the Governor proved futile as he was unavailable despite numerous attempts to reach him for a comment.
