On 23rd June 2018 a group of 12 youngsters from the Wild Boars football club and their 25-year-old coach In Chiang Province went to explore the Tham Luang Nang non cave.
The boys aged 11 to 15 years plus their 25 years old coach came from various schools and had gone to Mae Sai where they play soccer.
All was well until the Soccer team under their coach decided to visit and explore the Tham Luang Nang Non Cave after playing soccer.
Minutes after they entered the cave, the unexpected happened as heavy Rain rainstorm flooded the entrance to the popular cave.
The chamber they had visited and which is about 2.5 miles from the entrance of the cave, and about 4-5 miles, got flooded to a height of up to 16 feet.
The passage became extremely small, flooded and covered with sand and mud as the rainstorm continued.
The youngsters plus their 25 year old coach were forced to move further to a distance estimated to be four kilometers away from the cave’s entrance.
The horror incident came to the shock of many after one parent reported her missing child to Thailand Authorities.
Fortunately A team of 90 expert divers – 40 from Thailand and 50 from overseas – worked in the Tham Luang caves to get the boys and their coach out safely, a mission that took over 10 days.
However one of the divers died in the mission.
