Team set up to ensure Mombasa bars sell safe alcohol during festive season, says Achoki

Mombasa, KENYA: Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki on Monday assured locals and international visitors of safety during Christmas celebrations in Mombasa.

Mr.Achoki said that County security officials have mobilesed enough security to take care of Mombasa County during this festive season.

He further said that they have agreed with Kenya National Highway Authority to ensure all potholes within Mombasa roads are sealed to reduce traffic congestion.

All roads to Moi International Airport and the standard gauge railway station in Miiritini will also be manned by mobile traffic patrol to ensure passengers reach on time.

Adequate police officers have also been deployed in all five public beaches in Mombasa.

Mr.Achoki added that police officers will provide security to all shopping malls and churches within Mombasa County.

“We have put up a team that will raid the alcoholic outlet to ensure Kenyans drink safe alcohol, and that Kenyans are not sold counterfeit alcohol,” said Achoki.

The team that will conduct raids on alcoholic outlets in Mombasa comprises of KRA, NACADA, Kebs and they are expected to sample and check all drinks sold at the counter to identify whether they meet standards and authorized to be sold in bars.
