Mombasa,KENYA: Kwale Girls claimed the 2017 Copa Coca Cola U-2017 Coast Region soccer title after edging Waa Girls 4-2 on post-match penalties in the finals played at the Shimo La Tewa secondary school on Saturday.
Waa had themselves to blame after letting slip a 3-1 lead to allow Kwale get into the match before forcing a 4-4 draw in regulations time leading to the penalty lottery.
Kwale Girls head coach Joseph Oyoo who guided St. Johns Kaloleni to national triumphed last year termed the victory a sweet revenge having lost to Waa in the finals of the Kwale county games.
To qualify for finals Kwale Girls hammered Kajire from Taita Taveta 8-0 while Waa Girls narrowly edged Ndura Girls of Tana River 1-0 in theFriday’s semis.
Meanwhile it was yet another Kwale County affair in the boys’ finals where Ramisi Boys emerged champions by overcoming Kwale High 1-0, the same margin they recorded against the former the county finals.
En route to finals Kwale High spanked Mokoe Secondary from Lamu 5-0 while Ramisi were 3-2 winners over Barani from Kilifi.
