Jillo’s bid to have the community elders endorse him was further hindered by  reports which stated that the Wardei community who are regarded by many as the deciding factor in the  Tana river politics had fallen out with the Orma tribe.
This was after the latter accused the former of disrespecting an MOU signed by the two tribes in 2013 that saw governor Dado clinch the gubernatorial seat.
In January the Wardei elders are said to have endorsed the speaker Abdi Nuh in a voting exercise that saw  county speaker Abdi Nuh clinch the endorsement after garnering 19 votes against   Garsen MP Ibrahim Sane’s 12 votes and  Jire’s 2 votes.
Jire is said to have disputed the results and decamped to join his former running mate governor Hussein Dado while Sane who is a first time legislator elected on a URP party ticket in 2013 is said to have announced quitting active politics.
Dado and Halima decamp to Jubilee
In March governor Dado surprised many when he announced that he had decamped from the  Wiper party together with the Tana river women representative Halima Ware to the Jubilee party.Dado was received into the Jubilee party together with other defectors from the coast region  in a rally held at the Tononoka grounds in Mombasa county and this came amid reports that the president had been wooing him to join the party for the past 3 years.
Dado’s move to join the Jubilee party is said to have neutralized the animosity with his former antagonists with the top contenders on a Jubilee ticket organizing a massive rally in the county to official announce his defection.
