KPL and Spain’s La Liga strikes a deal

Nairobi,KENYA:Kenyan Premier League KPL has entered into a three year renewable partnership deal with the Spanish top tier football league La Liga aimed at fostering football development in the country.

La Liga President Javier Tebas Medrano and KPL chairman Ambrose Rachier witnessed the signing of the contract on Thursday in Nairobi.

The agreement will help promote co-operation, friendly relations, capacity building and development between the two leagues and ensure professionalism at all levels.

Local coaches will also benefit through coaching clinic to be conducted by tacticians from Spain who will channel their efforts in developing young talents in the country as well as training of club managers.

Other advantages include facilitating a Kenyan All-Star team to travel to Spain and play matches against La Liga clubs in dates to be scheduled.

This is the latest effort aimed at improving football standards in the country after the Sportpesa -Hull City deal that saw selected KPL players dubbed Sportpesa All Stars played the English Premier League Club in a special friendly match in February.
