The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has canceled the results for 840 candidates who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) over exam irregularities.

While releasing the 2024 KCSE results at Mtihani House in Nairobi, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba announced that the council had also withheld the results of 2,829 other candidates suspected of being involved in exam irregularities.

The results were withheld pending investigations that should be completed within 30 days from the official release of the examination results.

“The council is empowered in law as provided in the Kenya National Examination Council Handling of Examination Irregularities Rules of 2015, Legal Notice No.132 of 2015 rule number 8, to withhold the results of any candidate or examination center suspected of having been involved in an examination irregularity or malpractice pending completion of investigations,” said CS Ogamba.

91 contracted professionals were reported to have been involved in aiding examination malpractice. The Education CS said firm action will be taken against them.

“It is unfortunate that a few contracted professionals are still insistent on ruining the future of our learners by subjecting them to examination malpractices,” said Ogamba.

962,512 candidates sat the 2024 KCSE examinations.

Results can be accessed online through a link on the KNEC website or directly through https://results.knec.ac.ke.

“Candidates will be required to enter the candidate’s index number and any one of the names as per the registration data for the 2024 examination results. Any candidate experiencing difficulties in accessing examination results is advised to call KNEC toll free no. 0800724900 or 0800721410,” said Migos.
