Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has resigned after three years of managing the national football team.

Firat’s resignation was announced by Football Kenya Federation president Hussein Mohammed on Wednesday.

While making the announcement, FKF President Hussein Mohammed assured Kenyans that a replacement would be found after a meeting with the new National Executive Council (NEC) members.

In Firat’s three-year tenure, Harambee Stars have only won three competitive matches; against Rwanda (2-1), Seychelles (5-0), and Namibia (2-1).

Harambee Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations and was also thrashed out of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers by South Sudan.

Engin Firat’s tenure faced a lot of criticism, from his selection to his tactics which proved to be of no use in getting results in important matches.

His last game as Harambee Stars head coach was against Namibia which ended in a goalless draw.
