Newly elected Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed faces a race against time to save the nation from the humiliation of being stripped of the rights to host the 2025 African Nations Championship due to a lack of facilities.

Kenya which is supposed to host the competition alongside Tanzania and Uganda has lagged behind in the preparations under the former FKF regime.

Kenya now has only 22 days before CAF delegates give out their final verdict about the preparedness of the country to host the event.

Stadiums like Moi International Sports Center Kasarani and Nyayo Stadium, meant to host the event, are under renovations and deemed to be at 30% while the changing rooms at Police Sacco stadium, which will be used as a training facility, have been deemed unfit by the CAF delegates.

With Kenya’s fate of hosting CHAN 2025 on the balance, word out there is Rwanda will step up to host the competition if Kenya fails to beat the deadline.
