The county government of Mombasa is planning to construct 10km more cabro access roads this financial year.

This is according to Transport and Infrastructure County Executive Committee Member Daniel Manyala.

Speaking at his office in Shimanzi, CEC Manyala said that the access roads will open up the wards to business opportunities and improve mobility and road safety across the county.

“In the last two years of H.E Governor Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir, we have been able to do a minimum of 500m of cabro access in every ward and that, give or take, gives you 15km of access roads, this is no mean achievement and we are not stopping there,” said CEC Dan Manyala.

The county government also plans to build more pedestrian walkways to make Mombasa more walkable.

Meanwhile, CEC Manyala has warned vendors and car owners who are misusing pedestrian walkways.

“We want to urge those who continue to misuse these kinds of infrastructure, those vendors who turn them into markets and those motor vehicle owners who turn them into parking lots, to desist and let that infrastructure be used for what it is meant for, which is pedestrians and most vulnerable members of the society like People with Disabilities and school going children,” said Manyala.
