Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says his life is in danger.

Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Sunday, the former DP sais he had survived two assassination attempts.

Gachagua claimed that on 13th August, undercover security agents entered his room in Kisumu and tried to poison his food. He also claimed that the plan failed because it was detected early.

“I was supposed to be killed from poisoning. On 3rd September in Nyeri, another team from the National Intelligence Service came to Nyeri and tried to poison food that was meant for me and the Kikuyu Council of Elders. I did report this matter to the NIS,” said Gachagua.

He added that he asked the officers assigned to his office to leave because he didn’t feel safe.

“After the two attempts to assassinate me failed, it is when the impeachment motion was hatched,” said the former DP.

“When my security was withdrawn, officers from NIS have been hovering around my room, in every compound, to an extent I had to call my wife and my children to come stay in my room just in case they get entry into my room or compromise the people who are treating me,” he added.
