Naivas Supermarket opened a new branch on Thursday at Nyali Bazaar in Mombasa County.
The new branch marks the Supermarket Chain’s 105th branch in the country and the 12th one in the coastal region.
Speaking during the opening of Naivas Nyali Bazaar, Dennis Makori from the Supermarket’s Commercial Department said the supermarket will focus on freshness, quality, and good prices for the customer.
“If you walk across the aisles, one thing that stands out is the freshness of our fruits and vegetable sections, our freshly baked products, and fresh meat. When you go to our grocery aisles you will find great prices and a wide variety,” said Makori.
Makori said the supermarket aimed to promote local businesses by sourcing products locally.
“All these products are sourced from local farmers and vendors. As a business our focus is to promote local vendors, local suppliers, and making sure that as we grow as a business they also grow,” said Makori.
Also at the opening was Myspace CEO Mwenda Thuranira who said opening the new branch at Nyali Bazaar was a well-informed decision.
“We have Naivas in Mtwapa, Naivas in Malindi but when you are doing such a project you have to do it where there are people,” said Thuranira.
Myspace is the main real estate provider for Naivas Supermarket and Thuranira says many landlords are seeking Naivas to be their tenants.
“It took time to convince Naivas to come to Mombasa, at first nobody knew who they were, nobody wanted them but today as we stand every landlord wants Naivas to be their tenant,” he said.
He assured that Nyali Bazaar engineers and the county government will work to solve the issue of traffic going to the mall.
“I come in as the vision carrier of this project Nyali Bazaar. When you envision something for seven years and push to try to make it happen and then it finally happens, it is a very exciting thing,” said Thuranira.

The supermarket will soon be opening its 106th branch in Mtwapa.
Mombasa has eight branches in Mombasa ie Nyali Mall, Likoni, Digo, Mwembe Tayari, Bamburi, Saba Saba, Bombolulu and the new Nyali Bazaar branch.
