A section of civil society organizations in the Coast region have lashed at Mombasa County Assembly members on claims of failing to fully undertake their responsibilities.

One Nation Under God Executive Director and Peace Ambassador Mary Oyier said the ward representatives have failed to develop policies.

“Our MCAs have failed to develop policies for the residents. They have also failed to address some of the challenges facing women and girls,” said Oyier.

At the same time, Oyier lauded President William Ruto’s move to officiate former Mombasa governor as Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary.

She pointed out that devolution is on the verge of taking root, compared to its maiden years.

“We are happy as Mombasa residents. Having Hon Joho in the cabinet is the pride for this region,” she noted.

Miss Oyier further urged Mombasa residents to uphold peace saying this will ensure that the county experiences development.

She called on Kenyans to allow the government to implement its agenda.
