A man was charged in Mombasa court on Thursday for using his phone while driving.
Meshack Odunga was nabbed by traffic police on Valentine’s Day along Obama Road in Changamwe area, Mombasa County.
“I do recall very well on the 14th of February, 2024 at about 1040hrs along Obama-Airport road while on normal traffic check, I flagged a motor vehicle registration KDD 417Y make Toyota Fielder whose driver was driving while using a mobile phone,” read Police Constable Paul Mutambu’s statement.
“I immediately took action against its driver namely Meshak Odunga whereby I arrested and escorted him to Changamwe Police Station,” also read the statement.
Appearing before Mombasa Senior Magistrate G. A Olimo, the driver pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was released after paying a fine of Ksh. 10,000.
