Mombasa,KENYA: Medics in Mombasa county have vowed to continue with their strike until their demands are met.

Speaking in Mombasa on Wednesday, KMPDU Mombasa branch Treasurer Mariam Mwajumla said they have not been paid their three months salary.

According to Mwajumla, KCB has withheld their salaries because of bank loans deductions.

“We don’t need any favour from the government. What we need is our three months salary because we have people depending on us”, she added.

Mr. Moses Maingi, a laboratory technician, said the county government has not responded to their demands despite the strike entering its third day.

The medics also accused the government of threatening them with sackings for the strike.

” We are not going to be intimidated by the threats from of the county government to employ new health workers”, he added.

The strike entered day three on Thursday crippling services at Coast General hospital and other public dispensaries.
