Two men killed in fatal accidents at Mariakani area

Mombasa, KENYA>Two men died on Tuesday in two different road accidents within Mariakani sub-County.

In the first incident, Mr. Kibande Kiyogi, 47, died after the front tyre of his Nissan lafesta burst and lost control before rolling severally at Mtulu shopping center along Mariakani-Bamba road.

According to a police report, a female companion in the car namely Gladys Ndunia, 45, was injured and rushed to the hospital.

“Due to impact the said driver died on spot while the passenger sustained left leg fracture and body pain. The victim is admitted at Mariakani sub county hospital undergoing treatment, while the body has been moved to Jocham hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem”, reads the police report.

The vehicle was towed to Mariakani police station awaiting inspection.

MOTORBIKE ACCIDENT

In the other incident, a motorbike rider was killed on the spot after a knock from an oncoming vehicle along Mombasa-Nairobi highway at Mariakani.

According to a police report, a Scania bus from Mombasa rammed into a lorry heading towards the same direction following a slow flow of traffic at Kibanda Hasara area.

Hamisi Ndegwa, 24, who was heading to the opposite direction was ran over by the Fh lorry.

“The Fh lorry knocked down the oncoming motor cyclist and as a result of the impact the rider sustained serious injuries and died on the spot”, reads the police report.

The body of the deceased was moved to the coast general hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
