Class 8 pupil almost killed in a botched abortion

A class 8 pupil in Kitui County almost died while trying to terminate a 5-month-old pregnancy.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the 16-year-old girl was rushed to Mumoni health center in Kitui County where she delivered a 5-month lifeless male foetus.

“According to the victim’s mother, her daughter had complained of severe abdominal pains, prompting her to rush the minor to hospital,” said the DCI.

After interrogation, the girl revealed that her school head teacher, who was responsible for the pregnancy, had taken her to a a private clinic in Ishiara last Saturday, February 19th, where she was given tablets and asked to swallow.

The girl said the abdominal pains started after swallowing the tablets.

The DCI are on the hunt for the head teacher who has since gone missing and the owner of the private clinic who conducted the botched abortion.
