A 38-year-old man in Makueni County was on Friday arraigned in court for allegedly defiling his 11-year-old daughter.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Matuku Katumo is said to have defiled his daughter on Sunday 30th January 2022 at around 6:30 pm.

Matuku defiled his daughter while on their way home from the shop.

“Reporting to the police, the class five pupil at a local day school narrated how her father had restrained her hands along a stretch within Mikuyuni Teachers area, before forcing himself into the petrified girl,” said the DCI.

He then threatened the class five pupil with dire consequences if she reported him.

Realizing she had difficulty in walking, he further coached her to frame a fellow pupil at the school, a boy.

“Nyumba kumi officials who got wind of the matter yesterday demanded to have the alleged perpetrator questioned, as the victim was taken to Kibwezi Sub-county Hospital for examination. It was while privately with the medical team that the brave girl exposed her savage dad, who was at the time leading the Nyumba Kumi team to the home of the framed boy,” said the DCI.

Kibwezi detectives were informed and immediately arrested the suspect.

This incident preceded yet another attempted defilement case in Kibwezi on Thursday, where a class eight pupil escaped narrowly after passersby rescued her from a ferocious sex pest.

“The Athi Salama primary school-goer had been grabbed by 25-year-old Anthony Mutisya Muthoka, as she headed to school in the morning. Grabbed by the neck and being dragged to a nearby bush, the girl had shrieked to the attention of the public, who dashed to the scene and rescued her,” said the DCI.

The suspect was also cornered and arrested, now pending arraignment for attempted defilement.

The two incidents make five the total number of defilement cases reported in Makueni over the past 5 days.

The DCI has cautioned parents and caregivers to take note of the alarming trend.
