Village elder beheaded in Lamu by suspected Al-shabaab as four more bodies found

A village elder has been beheaded in Lamu County in a suspected Al-shabaab attack.

According to a police report, the deceased Joseph Mwangi was attacked within Witho shopping center.

He was beheaded and stabbed on the stomach at his home. His house was also torched.

Meanwhile another male Francis Kamau who had mysteriously disappeared on 2/1/2022, was found dead.

His body was found along the road within Witho shopping center and had head gunshot wounds.

Police also say four other people were found murdered in the area. The bodies were burnt beyond recognition.

The four are John Murimi and his three casuals namely, Peter Musyoka, Maina Wanjege and peter Maina.

All the deceased persons had their hands tied from behind. Also several houses were torched within the locality and property of unknown value burnt.

Police also say a spent cartridge was recovered.

The bodies were moved to Mpeketoni sub-county hospital morgue pending identification and autopsy.
