26 seafarers have been placed under quarantine in Mombasa after corona infection
The seafarers from different nationalities arrived in Mombasa from Djibouti.
According to Mombasa County public Health chief Officer Pauline Oginga, samples have been taken from the seafarers to for further testing.
She said the seafarers will not be allowed to leave their ship.
“They will be confined in the ship until we ascertain which Corona variant they suffer from”, she stated.
This comes as new corona variant Omicron was detected in the country on Wednesday.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said two Kenyans and a South African national tested positive for Omicron.
Kagwe said the three are currently under quarantine.
