KRA staff killed by swarm of bees in Mombasa

A staff at KRA was on Saturday killed by a swarm of bees while driving along a Mombasa County street.

Mr. John Muthine Mutwiri and colleagues were attacked by the bees while driving a Subaru black forester within Majengo area.

According to a police report STAPOL MAKUPA OB.NO.41/11/12/2021, the bizarre incident at around 11:45 am

Two other persons in the motor vehicle were also stung by the swarm of bees.

According to reports, the three scampered for safety in different directions after the vehicle was attacked by bees but the deceased was overwhelmed by the stinging before collapsing near a petrol station at Majengo.

A petrol station attendant and a garage owner attempted administering first aid on Mutwiri before rushing him to hospital in a tuk tuk.

However, according to police report, Mutwiri was pronounced dead as soon as he arrived at Coast general teaching and referral hospital for treatment.

“Police officers from Makupa police station rushed to the scene and took appropriate action. Body lying at Coast general hospital awaiting autopsy”, reads the police report.

Police have launched investigations over the incident.
