No politician will be allowed to campaign in prisons across Coast region.
Coast region prisons Commander Hassan Bugu said instead government will put measures in place to ensure prisoner’s rights to vote are adhered to.
Speaking in Mombasa, Bugu, however said politicians will be allowed to put campaign posters in prisons in hunt for votes.
“We can only allow campaign posters but no politician will be allowed inside the prisons”, he added.
Bugu said the measure aims at protecting inmates and staff from COVID-19 as a deadly delta variant spread.
