Parents in Taita Taveta County with children joining form one next week will not pay medical examination fees.

In a bid to cushion parents from the economic effects of COVID-19, the Taita Taveta County government has given a 100 percent waiver on medical examination fees for learners joining form one from Monday 26th July, and 50 percent waiver on the same for learners joining universities, colleges or other tertiary institutions.

“Due to the adverse impact of COVID-19 on the economy, most parents and guardians within the County have lost their livelihoods entirely and continue to struggle to make ends meet,” read a statement from the County’s Finance and Economic Planning CEC Andrew Kubo Mlawasi.

The waiver will be valid for 26 days from 21st July 2021.

“Please take note that the waivers are valid from 21st July 2021 to 15th August 2021, after which all charges will revert to the normal rates as detailed in the Taita Taveta County Finance Act 2020,” read the statement.
