A Kilifi County politician Ruth Bendera, claims her life is in danger after her home was raided by thugs.
According to Bendera, two unidentified men raided her home armed with machetes.
The politician says she has been receiving threats after announcing her intention to run for parliamentary seat in the area.
“Some hooded men raided my house and when i peeped on the window, i saw them armed with pangas. Luckily they never harmed me”, she revealed.
The politicians linked the incident to intimidation and threats after announcing her candidature in next year’s elections.
“I have never been attacked or even threatened until i said i was going to vie for a political seat,” she added.
She also alleged that her businesses have received threats of closure over licenses.
However, Kilifi North County Police Commander Jonathan Koech said they have launched investigation into the incident.
“It could normal crime incident but we will investigate further. We are going to intensify patrols in the neighbourhood.” he stated.
