Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna has shown his interest in running for Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the upcoming by-election after the impeachment of former Governor Mike Sonko by the Senate a week ago.

Miguna will vie using Third way alliance ticket after the party on Monday confirmed his candidature through a statement sent to newsrooms.

The party’s national chairman Miruru Waweru said Miguna is the best bet to reclaim the capital city from what he described as ineptitude.

“To reclaim this city Dr Miguna offers his candidature in the upcoming by-election,” Waweru said adding that Miguna is the answer for the troubled capital city given his past sacrifices of the country.

The controversial lawyer who was deported to Canada after participating in a mock-swearing in of Raila Odinga in 2018, spoke during an interview with the Diaspora TV.

“Hello the majestic people of Nairobi and Kenya in general, this is General Miguna speaking from exile, I will be running for the position of Governor in the next by-election,” Miguna said.

Miguna promised to weed out corruption, transform the city and uphold integrity.

He will be joining among others, ex-Kiambu Governor Ferdinard Waititu who has announced interest in the Nairobi seat despite his January impeachment by the senate on allegations of wanton graft and abuse of office.
