If you live in the coastal region, expect heavy rains from Friday.

According to an advisory issued by the Kenya Meteorological Department, most parts of the country will experience heavy rainfall of more than 40mm in 24hrs from Friday 27th November.

“Heavy rainfall of more than 30mm in 24hrs is expected over the northeastern parts of the country on Thursday 26th November, 2020. The heavy rainfall is expected to intensify to more than 40mm in northeastern and spread to the southeastern, coastal regions, western and central highlands including Nairobi area on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th respectively,” said the Met Department.

The heavy rainfall is expected to continue on Sunday 29th over western, southeastern, coastal regions and central highlands including Nairobi area.

“It is likely to reduce in intensity on Monday 30th November, 2020,” said the weatherman.

All coastal counties are expected to experience the heavy rainfall.

Residents are advised to be on the lookout for potential floods, avoid driving through or walking in moving water or open fields. They are also advised not to shelter under trees or grilled windows to minimise exposure to lightning strikes.

“The heavy rains may lead to poor visibility along the western Indian ocean, hence fishermen and all the marine industry should be on high alert,” added the Met department.
