COVID-19 surge in the Coast as region records 333 new infections

333 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Coast region.

According to the Ministry of Health, Mombasa recorded the highest new cases in the region with 183 cases followed by Kilifi with 124 cases.

Lamu recorded nine cases, Tana River eight, Taita Taveta seven, and Kwale two new infections.

In the press statement from MoH, the Mombasa cases are distributed as follows; Mvita 64, Nyali 37, Kisauni 32, Likoni 20, Jomvu 19, Changamwe 11.

Distribution of cases in Kilifi are; Malindi 57, Kilifi South 45, Kilifi North 13, Kaloleni 6 and Rabai 3.

Lamu cases are in Lamu West while Tana River recorded new infections in Galole 4, Bura 3 and Garsen 1.

The country recorded 1,470 cases from a sample size of 8,072 with cumulative tests hitting 774,982 as Nairobi led with 649 cases.

The total number of cases in the country are now at 68,193.

of the new infections, 1,397 were Kenyans while 73 were foreigners.

25 patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people who have died from the disease to 1,228.

1,364 patients are admitted at various facilities, while 5,726 are in the home-based care with 54 in the ICU.

791 people recovered from the disease bringing the total number of people who have recovered to 44,872.
